There are PLENTY of things people have said to me that I just could've done without hearing. I just wonder sometimes if people think before they speak. Have you ever heard the saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"? Totally qualifies here. These ladies should have stuck with option b. Don't say anything at all. Here are some of my favorites/most offensive.
Omitting name: Oh, you're only 14 weeks? Hmm, I would have guessed you were further along!
My parents' neighbor: Oh, Becca, you're not the pregnant one? I would have guessed you were the pregnant one...
Um dear, shut your pie hole while you're behind.
Co-worker to my sister: Congratulations!! I hear you're expecting (patting her belly).
Becca: Um no, my sister is expecting. But I will pass on your congratulations *place lady's hand back at her side*.
This one makes me laugh every time. Silly lady.
Friend of a friend: Oh, you're looking at maternity clothes? Make sure you spend money on something you like. You will LIVE in them. I'm still wearing mine!
Hello new friend, your youngest is 4 and you are STILL wearing your maternity pants? Shame on you.
Just about every stranger that I've told we're pregnant: Get ready to never sleep again!
Optimism is key, people. I don't need your negativity.
My favorite... from anyone that knows both my husband and I:
You and your husband are tall! You're going to have a 12 pound baby!
I'm sure I will have more of this in the weeks/months to come... I will keep you all updated. : )
